H-beam
Named for their cross-section that resembles the letter “H”, H-beams (also known as Wide Flange beams) are the all-rounders of modern steel construction. Their defining feature is that the inner and outer surfaces of the flanges are completely parallel, with wider flanges and uniform thickness. This optimized cross-sectional design provides superior resistance to bending, compression, and torsion in multiple directions.
